year 2500 of Buddhist Era), lingering stream of the southern moat
on the opposite of Banomyong Temple in this ancient capital city, the
birth of a child whose name was ‘Pridi’ was welcomed on Friday of
the 13 Date of the Waxing Moon, of the 6 Month, in Year of the

Father of this young child was Mr. Siang Banomyong; and
his mother was Mrs. Lookjahn Banomyong.
Banomyong Family
Pertaining to the tales of ‘Banomyong’ family, their
ancestor could possibly be traced back to the wet nurse of a king,
back in the reign of Ayutthaya Kingdom. This wet nurse’s name was
‘Prayong’, and she built a temple on the south moat, while her house
was on the opposite site of the temple.
According to the pronunciation of the past, the word
‘Phra Nom Prayong’ (Wet Nurse Prayong) was shortened and
became the word ‘Banomyong.’ After so many generations, such
word was now used for remarking Wet Nurse Prayong, and the
temple that she built.
In 1913, the Family Name Act was enacted, Mr. Siang
hence asked Phra Suwhan Wimonsil, the current Ecclesiastical
District Of icer at that time, to give him family name. Phra Suwhan
Wimonsil, who knew about ancestors of Mrs.Siang, named his family
name as “Banomyong”.
Early Education
Master Pridi started his learning with Phra Kru Sang, at
Tha Wasukri District, before he was transferred to Taroe District
to study with Luang Pranee Prachachon (Mr. Piam Kachart) and
attended Wat Ruak School, a government school in Taroe District.
