and learned copious knowledge from him, especially knowledge
on development, and French customs and cultures. Almost every
mealtime with this professor was a great opportunity for learning
more and more information. And that knowledge was the base of
further studying and vast extension of knowledge later.
Bachelor Degree Education
In 1921, Mr. Pridi attended the law school, under the
bachelor degree of Bachelier en Droit, which was a f rst class
government degree, at Université de Caen, for a period of 2 years.
In his 1 year, he learned the subjects of Chronicle of

Law (which is currently known as History of Law), Roman Law (on
person, asset, and heritage), Economic Science (which is currently
known as Economics); the tests comprised both written and spoken
examinations.
In 1922, in his 2 year, he learned subjects of Roman

Law (liability), Local Government Law (which is currently known as
Administrative Law); the tests were the same as the 1 year.

Prominent Education’s Performance
In June 1923, Mr. Pridi pass f nal examination of the 2
nd
year with f rst class honor (Mention Très bien), he also received
“honorable mention” award for his discourse on police and farmer,
and eventually graduated with Bachelier en Droit degree.
For his further education in Licencié en droit, or the
second class government degree, which was essentially continuous
education in 3 year (junior), Mr. Pridi had to study more complex

laws, in comparison to the previous years: commercial law and
f nancial law. Examinations were the same as 1 and 2 year, and

once he passes the f nal exam, he would receive Licencié en droit
degree, or Bachelor of Law degree.
