Draft of the Economy Project
In 1933, Mr. Pridi was tasked by the government to draft
and propose the ‘Economy Project’, pertaining to the Declaration of
Khana Ratsadon, which served as “the social contract” that the party
warranted itself to every citizen during the Great Revolution.
And the more important aspect of this task was “…if we
are going to follow the old method, this change of regime will
be meaningless, as we’ve failed to serve the signif cant part,
that is, to solve the people’s problem. Therefore, the path that
we should take, must be based on academic knowledge, must
use planning, and socialism project methodology, which is the
pure science…”
The Heart of Siam’s Great Revolution
Mr. Pridi presented f rmly, during the meeting of the
reviewing committee of the economy project, and explained the most
important aspect of Siam’s Great Revolution that “…I do hereby
certify opinion of M.C. Sakon, that his change of regime
wasn’t a Coup d’État but an economic revolution…”
The First Counter-Attack to the Great Revolution
After there was disunion on approving the draft of the
economy project, on April 1 1933, the government instead solved
st
this problem by enacting a Royal Decree to shutdown the House of
Representative, and to deactivate some articles of the Constitution,
as well as enacting the Communist Law B.E. 2476 on the next
day and forcing Mr. Pridi, who was framed to be sympathizer of
Communism to f ee from the country, on April 12 1933.
