Pridi was Free of All Charges
On December 25 1933, the House of Representative
th
found an investigative committee, to investigate the charge against
Mr. Pridi that said he was a sympathizer of communism. Once the
investigation was complete, the committee resolved unanimously
that Mr. Pridi had no sympathy in communism.
Administrative Jobs in the Position of a Minister
Important jobs of Mr. Pridi, as a minister of several
ministries, were as follows.
Ministry of Interior (March 1933 – August 1937) including
drafting the law on founding municipality over the entire country.
Ministry of Foreign Af airs (August 1937 – December
1938) including resuming negotiations to revoke unfair treaties with
many countries.
Ministry of Finance (December 1938 – December 1941)
including pioneering and creating the foundation of National Bank,
improving tax collection, and proposing the implementation of
‘Revenue Code’ for the f rst time.
Foundation of University of Moral and Political
Sciences, and Position of the University’s Founder
Mr. Pridi was tasked by the government to draft the
University of Moral and Political Sciences Act, B.E. 2476. After the
act was enacted, the government proposed to nominate Mr. Pridi
as the university’s founder, on April 11 1933. Later, this position

was revoked, as a result of the new legislation, namely, Thammasat
University Act, B.E. 2495, which was the result of 1947 coup d’etat.
The underlying intention for creation of this higher
education institute, was clearly depicted in (1) the preamble of the
statute, of the University of Moral and Political Sciences Act, B.E.
